[LIVING LAB] Porch Pond

We received a FREE aquarium a couple weeks ago from a fellow islander to re-home our salamanders and tadpoles. It's been on my list of things to do for quite some time, and finally, this weekend, me and the kids set out to transform this glass vessel into the coolest pond ever when we found this little cutie in our jar!!

We washed it out, grabbed a bucket full of stones from our old fish aquarium, and some larger stones and bark from the yard. We wanted to try and create two seperate ponds in order to keep the salamanders and tadpoles contained.

We then visited the pond where we found our eggs and collected more water and some of the plant life in and around the pond.

We added them to our aquarium and carefully piled more pebbles to keep them grounded, waited for the water to clear and added our little friends. We were able to do a proper count when spooning them in - turns out we have 12 salamander nymphs and 11 tadpoles + 1 little frog!

SO . MUCH . FUN
